The newly-unveiled Project 007 from Hitman developer IO Interactive will be powered by the Glacier Engine, the studio has revealed. For those unaware, that’s the same technology that powers the Hitman games.

In addition, the developer also revealed that it is targeting ‘modern systems and platforms’ for the Super Spy’s next outing, which is the first James Bond game to see the light of day since 2012’s 007 Legends – and that wasn’t much to write home about.
Here’s the blurb via Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive:
Creating an original Bond game is a monumental undertaking and I truly believe that IO Interactive, working closely with our creative partners at EON and MGM, can deliver something extremely special for our players and communities. Our passionate team is excited to unleash their creativity into the iconic James Bond universe and craft the most ambitious game in the history of our studio.
A new James Bond game is certainly welcome, although let’s just hope it lives up to the status of Nintendo 64’s genre-defining GoldenEye 007.
The news is somewhat bittersweet, though, as Bond fans also had to endure a massive blow recently with the death of actor Sir Sean Connery, who played Bond to perfection on the silver screen.
