Square Enix‘s newly-announced Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate will utilise the Unreal Engine 5, the company has announced.
The next chapter in the long-running RPG series, which celebrated its 35th anniversary this year, is still in the early stages of development. The creator of the franchise, Yuji Horii, has said that the game’s story has been completed, but it will take some time for actual development to be completed.
In other words, it’s no surprise we haven’t got a Dragon Age XII release date at this point, as it’s obviously still a long way off.

No platforms have been announced for Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate at this point, but it’s certainly a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S title given that it’s using the Unreal Engine 5. We can also expect changes to the turn-based combat system too, but further details are being kept under wraps.
