With Sony just announcing the PS Plus games for May 2021 and the inclusion of Wreckfest, we were a bit bemused by the fact that the game will be available on May 4, 2021, as the PS5 version doesn’t actually launch until a month later on June 1.
Whilst THQ Nordic hasn’t exactly stated why this is the case, we reckon it is a similar situation to Destruction AllStars‘ PS Plus release, with subscribers to the service simply getting exclusive access to the game ahead of its release as the product is complete.
The PS5 version comes with a host of enhancements, including 4K 60 FPS gameplay and utilisation of the PS5 DualSense controller. The game doesn’t offer a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade for existing owners so if you already have the game and don’t have PS Plus you will need to buy it again at a discount from the PlayStation Store.
Wreckfest is available now on PS4 and releases for PS5 on June 1, 2021, available for PS Plus owners from May 4, 2021.
