According to a report on Cinelinx, much-loved RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is getting a remake/sequel at some point. Yes, that’s right. Still, got a salt shaker handy? You might want to empty it while digesting this story – just to be safe.
Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake/Sequel In Works?
Back in 2015, the site reported via three sources that a new Knights of the Old Republic game was in the pipeline. However, the following year, the game was apparently put on the ‘back burner,’ with EA deciding not to pursue the project.
However, the site has since heard from two independent sources – one of which has already proven reliable regarding a separate story – that a Knights of the Old Republic remake is back on track. The other source suggested it’s more of a sequel than remake, in that it integrates elements of the first two titles to align them with the current Star Wars canon.
That’s about all there is to go on regarding the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic revival, but it’s definitely an exciting prospect. Both game are among the most celebrated RPGs to date, so a comeback would definitely be met with huge enthusiasm.
In related news, the same site claims that publisher Electronic Arts has many different Star Wars projects in the works at the moment. There’s apparently a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel in development, a new Project Luminous tie-in, and a game for Nintendo Switch.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was released for the PC and Xbox back in 2003, with the follow-up, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords, came out in the US for Xbox in late 2004 and for PC and Xbox in Europe in early 2005.
Fingers crossed a comeback is on the cards, eh?
