For the camping enthusiast like me, a night time light source is a must in my backpack. For me, the personal sized Coleman Rugged Battery Powered Lantern is useful without the extra size and weight as some lanterns can be.

The lantern has two light settings; High and Low. As far as I can tell, there is no difference in the amount of brightness emitted by each setting. So, I pretty much use the Low setting most of the time to save the battery charge from 14 hours (on High setting) to more than 20 hours per continuous use.
Even though it is not as bright as the other available lanterns in the market, it illuminates the immediate area adequately with a clear beam. The light output is enough to light a moderately sized tent for 4 to 5 people.
Despite the fact that it is made from plastic, it is well made and rugged enough to endure the harshness of outdoor activities; the lantern is weather- and shatter-proof so it will not wear out and fall to pieces easily. Other than being sturdy, it is lightweight and easy to carry around by the attached handles. The handle has a non-slip rubberized grip to them so that it won’t easily slip out of your hands.
Durable, convenient and energy efficient, the Coleman Rugged Battery Powered Lantern is affordable for everyone. Not only it is useful for outdoor activities, it is perfect indoors during long blackouts occurrences.
